Mama Kandeh, the party leader and secretary general of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), has pledged that a GDC-led government will make budgetary provisions for people with disabilities.

“People with disabilities are an important part of our society, and we must ensure that they have the same opportunities as everyone else.

“One way to do this is to create a dedicated budget for people with disabilities in the National Assembly. This budget would be used to fund programs and services that support people with disabilities, such as education, healthcare, and employment,” he said.

Hon. Mama Kandeh, said that people with disabilities should not be discriminated against because of their disabilities.

“People with disabilities did not choose to be born with their disabilities. God created them that way, and they deserve to have the same opportunities as everyone else. Some people with disabilities can work and should be given the chance to do so. We need to create more opportunities for people with disabilities so that they can live decent lives.” he asked.

Hon. Mamma Kandeh made these remarks in a WhatsApp audio message on the occasion of Idul-il -Adha commonly called Tobaski.
