The bus that became stuck midway at the landing at the Barra Terminal has been successfully evacuated, according to the management of the Gambia Ferry Services.

Operation had picked back up. Regarding an incident involving a vehicle crashing into the sea on Friday, the Gambia Ferry Services issued an apology to its clients on behalf of the management.

“A 55-seater bus with the Malian registration number BQ 2332 MB arrived at the Barra Terminal at 11:30 a.m. with plans to go to Banjul. Due to apparent technical issues, the bus driver was refused boarding.
According to the Ferries Management, “after a mechanical inspection, the driver asked his team to push the bus towards the landing bridge to confirm the technical condition of the bus before the next ferry arrival.”

The report said that the bus’s faulty brakes caused it to swerve off track and partially plunge into the sea during this push.

The management of the Gambia Ferry Service expressed their regret for any trouble this may have caused to passengers in general.

Additionally, the bus had been taken out, and regular services had resumed as a result, according to a later statement from the Management of Ferries, which also expressed regret for any inconvenience the event may have caused to passengers.
