Mr. Bai Gibbi Sallah, the Acting Chief Executive Officer, has been removed from his position, according to a press statement released by the Basse Area Council. He resigned from the Council with immediate effect.

The Council passed a resolution on October 12, 2023, that recommended Mr. Sallah’s removal in response to allegations of an unlawful withdrawal of D50,000 from Council accounts.

The Council emphasized in the statement that they have decided to recall Mr. Sallah from his position after conducting a comprehensive investigation and consulting with the appropriate authorities.

“In light of the aforementioned, the Council would like to notify the public that Mr. Bai Gibbi Sallah, the Acting Chief Executive Officer, has been recalled from his position and has departed the Council with immediate effect, following a thorough investigation and consultation with the appropriate authorities.” Assuring the public and taxpayers that the Council is a corrupt-free institution, BAC stated, “We are confident that this action is a testament to the Council’s commitment to responsible leadership, accountability, transparency, and integrity.”

The Council also emphasized that this decision reaffirms their dedication to resolving current issues and reestablishing trust and confidence in their financial management and leadership practices.
