In a legal proceeding pitting Alagie Borra Sisawo against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney General, the High Court of the Gambia ruled in his favor. The court determined that Borra was unlawfully detained from October 4 to October 10, 2023, and awarded him D500,000 in damages.

Beyond 72 hours, Justice Ebrima Jaiteh ruled that the IGP and his officers lacked a justifiable reason to detain Borra. Moreover, he stated that Bora should not be arrested and detained without just cause by the IGP.

Beyond the monetary award, the court additionally mandated that the IGP relinquish Bora’s iPhone 13 Pro Max.
