Saikou Jawara, the Chairman of the Kuntaur Area Council, is yet to return from the United States of America, notwithstanding a council resolution mandating his immediate return within a span of fourteen days.

Following Chairman Jawara’s departure for a fourteen-day official mission to the United States in September, apprehensions have emerged regarding his extended absence, giving rise to conjecture that he might have evaded capture.

Kuntaur Area Council insiders have revealed that they have obtained reliable information suggesting that the chairman is not inclined to return. The source speculated that the chairman may be evading his return out of concern for potential consequences related to the council’s purported financial malfeasance. In spite of assurances and assertions of advocating for projects, council members harbor skepticism concerning his ultimate reappearance.

“We have received unequivocal confirmation that the chairman will not be returning.” I comprehend that he is apprehensive about returning due to the council’s mismanagement of funds. He is apprehensive that the commission may apprehend him. He travelled to Brazil before returning home. Even the sugar cane endeavor he claimed to be working on has proven unsuccessful. They continue to assure us that he will return, but we are certain he will not. He followed the CEO there, but the CEO has since returned; he has been present for the past four months. “He continues to assure us that he will visit in early January to lobby for projects, but we have yet to see him as of today,” a Kuntaur Area Council source said.
An additional source speculated that the chairman has commenced employment in the United States, lending credence to the notion that his reappearance is improbable. Consequently, demands have been made for a by-election to occupy the position vacated by the extended absence of Chairman Jawara.

“It is common knowledge that the chairman will not return.” He has, as far as I am aware, commenced employment there. Thus, progress is critical at this juncture; a by-election is crucial.”

From September 21st to October 4th, 2023, both Chairman Saikou Jawara and Chief Executive Officer Momodou Sambou were observed to be in the United States for a mayoral conference. Although the chairman has resumed work, the CEO’s absence has sparked debates regarding the potential need for a by-election at this time.
