GAMBIA: DRUG RELATED CHARGES PUT 7 IN CUSTODY

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of the Gambia (DLEAG) has recently put into custody seven Gambians on drug-related charges.

Mr Ousman Saidybah, the spokesperson of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency reported that 22-year-old Omar Jobe, a resident of Kololi, and 20-year-old Ousman Ceesay, a resident of Dippa Kunda were arrested by Bundung DLEAG unit at Kololi on 29 August with one bundle, twenty-four parcels and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in white and cement papers.

“33-year-old Demba Joof, a resident of Pirang was arrested by Sibanor DLEAG station at Manyima Village on the 30th August 2023 with three bundles of suspected cannabis, which is concealed in cement papers and placed inside a yellow and black colour bag,” he said.

He said a 24-year-old Kebba Jatta residing in Mariama Kunda and 30-year-old Adama Njie, a resident of Sanyang Village were arrested by the Tanji DLEAG unit on 30 August with ten wraps of suspected kush and one wrap of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in white and transparent nylon bag.

“22-year-old Muhammed Keita and 50-year-old Mamour Darboe were arrested by Tallinding DLEAG unit at Latrikunda on 31 August with twenty-four parcels and one wrap of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in white paper and placed inside a multicolor bag,” he reported.

He said that all the suspects are in custody while further investigations continue.
