GAMBIA: GAF IS READY TO DEPLOY TROOPS TO NIGER IF ORDERED – LIEUTENANT COLONEL LAMIN SANYANG

Lieutenant Colonel Lamin K. Sanyang, Director of Press and Public Relations for the Gambia Armed Forces has confirmed that the Gambia Armed Forces are ready to deploy troops to Niger, pending orders from the civilian leaders.

“Gambia will go if we get to that stage because the military option according to ECOWAS is the last option and in every conflict situation usually the military option is usually the last option and have seen the rapprochement that is going on since the events unfolded. The ECOWAS heads of state are engaging the coup leaders in Niger through diplomatic means. 

“For us in the military, we have our own processes and procedures to follow. The military is subordinate to civil Authority and that comes to play in this situation. and since the new dispensation this has been the clarion call and The Gambia Armed Forces stands by it that no more coups as stated by the president. We abide by that, the days of coups are gone. So for the Armed Forces, we just waiting for orders,” the army PRO said.,” the army PRO said.

The Director of Press and Public Relations of the Gambia Armed Forces also confirmed that deployment will have to be approved by the National Assembly.
