GAMBIA: MAYOR TALIB BENSOUDA NOMINATED FOR AFRI50 TRAILBLAZER AWARD

The Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), Talib Ahmed Bensouda, has been nominated for the Afri50 Trailblazers Award to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 1 May 2023.

According to Forbes Africa, Afri50 trailblazer’s awards is in its inaugural year. It endeavors to recognize 50 African trailblazers in science and technology, finance, sports, and entrepreneurship, among other fields that Africans are excelling in.

“Afri50 is a new award that will recognize 50 African trailblazers. The inaugural awards night is set to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 1 May 2023. The awards night coincides with Worker’s Day, a day when workers are celebrated and recognized for their labor towards making the world a better place.

Mayor Bensouda is nominated in the community development category. Another notable nominee is the Senegalese football star Sadio Mané.

“The Afri50 Award nominees include Senegalese and Bayern Munich football club star, Sadio Mané, who is recognized for his sporting talent which has won him various accolades and his passion for community development which has seen him build schools, hospitals among several other donations he has made to Senegal. Sadio Mané is a game changer on the pitch and in the community development space in Senegal.”
