Reports claiming that Rohey Malick Lowe, the mayor of Banjul City Council (BCC) and a national executive member of the United Democratic Party (UDP), had been expelled from the party have been refuted.
The party’s senior administrative secretary for media and communications signed the following news release:

The dissemination of false information claiming to be from the United Democracy Party (UDP) is officially denounced by the party. Social media users are spreading rumors that UDP Second Vice President Rohey Malick Lowe, a mayor, has been fired. This is a collection of misinformation being propagated by those who dislike it, and it is totally untrue. The substance of this bogus news is untrue, and the letterhead used to publish it is not the UDP’s. The dissemination of false information will not and cannot divert the UDP; rather, it will only strengthen our will to carry on the struggle for improved Gambia.

Some newcomers to politics are desperate and lack strategies for competing honestly in the political sphere. As a dedicated supporter of the party, Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe is a member of the UDP National Executive Committee. These dishonest strategies used by political rivals will not succeed; instead, they will fortify the UDP.
