Fye Network (FyeN), a multimedia publishing and production company, and the Office of the President have collaborated to write His Excellency President Adama Barrow’s life story. “The Village Boy Who Would Be President: The Story of President Adama Barrow” is a children’s book.
President Adama Barrow shatteringly reveals the mystery around his modest origins in what is shaping up to be a children’s book bestseller. Follow him as he recounts his upbringing in the rural Mankamang Kunda village, his first experiences with school, his volunteer work, and the inspiration for his eventual political aspirations. A tale of determination, dedication, and optimism, the life of President Adama Barrow will be discovered by children ranging from four to twelve years old.
To our knowledge, this is the very first children’s book ever written by a serving president of The Gambia. A humble boy from Mankamang Kunda can sit in the highest office in the land and lead his country, as President Barrow generously recounts in his autobiography, highlighting the strong sense of culture, rich tradition, and selfless community that allowed him to do so. President Barrow’s unflinching work ethic, readiness to lead, and ambition to succeed serve as examples for the next generation of Gambia leaders in this children’s book.
Since his election as the country’s third president, His Excellency Adama Barrow has pledged to see to it that all Gambian students have access to these books, guaranteeing that they would serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for years to come.
Thanks to a well-coordinated effort that included a Gambian-owned publishing house, FyeN was able to produce a high-quality book that was both informative and amusing. Anna and YaAdam Fye, sisters from Gambia, established the groundbreaking Fye Network (FyeN) to provide families and children in the African and Black diaspora with narratives that change the face of the business.
