In the message, Jammeh outlined a shift in his communication strategy within the party. He emphasized that his interactions would now be directed through the council of elders and chairmen rather than the executive, asserting his right to communicate with any party member without external interference.
“And let me see whether anybody will be angry that I am talking to the council of elders and try to fight the council of elders. Because there are reasons why I have to communicate with certain people. And I have a right to communicate with any member of the party. Nobody tells me whom I should talk to and whom I shouldn’t talk to. Let me make that very clear. I can talk to anybody in the Gambia. That is nobody’s business. Either concerning something or concerning the party. I can talk to anybody in the Gambia as long as the person will get things done,” he said.
He expressed confidence in the council of elders and chairmen, urging them not to compromise on discipline and to remove ineffective individuals from their positions.
“They should not compromise with discipline, and they should not compromise with rotten wood that is there in position, and they are not delivering, and they don’t want other people to deliver. If you are not going to work, leave your position and go,” he said.

Addressing the party’s future, Jammeh clarified that there will be no rebranding, emphasizing the sanctity of the party’s manifesto.
“Let me also make it very clear, there will be no rebranding of the party; it is not going to be branded; it is not going to happen. The party has a manifesto, and the manifesto is sacrosanct. The party manifesto is what guided us to develop the country the way we did. So there’s not going to be any fundamental change to the party structure,” he said.
Former Republic of the Gambia president Yahya Jammeh has informed his followers via an audio message on WhatsApp that anyone who would want to run for office in the APRC party should join their own political organizations.

Jammeh described a change in his approach to party communication in the message. He asserted his right to speak with any member of the party without intervention from outside sources, emphasizing that his interactions will henceforth be conducted via the council of elders and chairmen rather than the executive.

And let me see if anybody tries to oppose the council of elders because they are upset that I am speaking to them. Because I have to talk to certain individuals for particular reasons. Additionally, I’m allowed to speak with any party member. Nobody advises me on who to speak to or not to talk to. Let me say it clearly. In the Gambia, I may speak with anybody. It is not anyone’s concern. perhaps in relation to the party or anything else. As long as the individual would get things done, I can speak to anyone in the Gambia,” he said.

He urged the council of elders and chairmen to uphold discipline and remove incompetent people from their posts, expressing trust in their abilities.

They shouldn’t give in to pressure to maintain discipline or to rotted wood that’s already in place. They also shouldn’t accept it when others refuse to carry out their delivery duties. “Leave your position and go if you are not going to work,” he urged.

Regarding the party’s future, Jammeh emphasized the integrity of the party platform and made it clear that there would be no rebranding.

“Let me also be really clear: the party will not be rebranded; it will not be branded; this will not occur. The party maintains a manifesto, which is untouchable. Our development of the nation was guided by the party platform. Thus, the party structure won’t undergo any significant changes, he said.
Jammeh maintained that the APRC’s current legal framework, which has been in place since the adoption of its constitution, will not alter. He asked the chairmen to follow the established duties and resisted any effort to add additional posts outside of the original framework.

“I want to be absolutely clear with the chairman. Furthermore, it is extremely evident what powers need to be specified. When I appointed this executive, everything was predetermined, which is why I made that decision. Being Deputy Number Two does not mean that you have no responsibilities. They are required to maintain the initial places that I assigned them. In the APRC, we have never had a mobilizer general. The term refers to what we had, a national mobilizer. Additionally, we have a national women’s mobilizer. I will continue to uphold these institutions. I would want that to be heard by the chairman.

In response to queries on job titles inside the party, Jammeh stressed the need of preserving the designations that are now in use, including national campaign manager, national women’s mobilizer, national youth mobilizer, and national mobilizer. He brushed off the moniker “Mobilizer General” and emphasized the need of staying true to the party’s founding documents.

That’s what we had for 22 years, but I won’t put up with anything that needs to go through that mobilizer general; it’s absurd. Allow me to explain clearly. They should give off calling themselves mobilizer generals; it is not going to happen. We had a national campaign manager, a national women’s mobilizer, a national youth mobilizer, and a national mobilizer. When we refer to youngsters, we mean both boys and females. The only constructions that would be included in the party are those. He said, “National Mobilizer General is nonsense and will never happen.”

Jammeh asked the chairmen and council of elders to handle internal concerns and make sure that all members actively participate, calling for unity and efficiency within the party. He emphasized the significance of persons who draw guests to the party and their contribution in making the event successful.

He said, “The guy who is working is the one who is bringing as many people as possible; he is not the type of person who sits around and starts whining about money.”

Jammeh further underlined that without the council of elders’ and chairmen’s consent, the APRC leadership could not unilaterally decide on projects or programs. He urged party-affiliated National Assembly members to actively engage in executive sessions, highlighting their crucial role in the decision-making process.

Since the members of the National Assembly are a component of the executive, they should participate actively in executive sessions. I’m not suggesting they should attend meetings while the national parliament is in session; I’m just saying when they’re not. This is a holy obligation. We have ensured for 22 years that attendance at APRC executive meetings is attended by everybody.

In a stern directive, Jammeh reiterated that anyone aspiring to be a flag bearer should create their own political party rather than seeking candidacy within the APRC.

“When I call for a meeting, sometimes they also go and have their own meeting and then come and inform me about it on a topic that we have already agreed upon. Thus, this is the direction that things are going to take. We will not introduce any arbitrary modifications to the APRC. That won’t take place. Go start your own party if you want to be the leader of the pack. Not my APRC, please. I want that to be very clear,” he said.
