President Adama Barrow has levied allegations against UDP leader Ousainu Darboe, claiming that he is exhibiting hypocritical behavior by asserting that The Gambia is regressing into a state of dictatorship. Barrow contends that if he were really a dictator, media establishments such as Kerr Fatou and Mengbekering would not have been allowed to exist.

In response to Mr. Darboe’s remarks made during the funeral of the late Nogoi Njie, wherein he accused the government of betraying those who fought against dictatorship in The Gambia and expressed concerns about the country regressing into a dictatorship, President Barrow, who is presently engaged in a rural tour to inaugurate roads and his political party’s bureaus, stated that Mr. Darboe’s comments undermine the credibility of our police force and suggested that if the country were indeed under a dictatorship, Mr. Darboe would not have been able to voice such opinions without facing consequences. The individual in question would likely have been located by law enforcement, apprehended, and subsequently incarcerated. It is imperative to convey to him that the existence of Kerr Fatou and Mengbekering platforms in this nation is contingent upon the presence of democracy. The existence of these radio stations generating noise would be nonexistent inside the confines of this nation.
President Barrow said that his administration would adopt stringent measures to address those who violate the law, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards acts of lawlessness.

The leniency shown towards them has persisted for an extended duration; nevertheless, we will henceforth adopt a stance of zero tolerance against both unlawful conduct and empty rhetoric. The existence of laws is a fundamental need for the functioning of any nation. My upbringing was characterized by the influence of those who adhered to religious beliefs, imparting onto me the principles and values necessary to lead a virtuous life. I have not engaged in any illicit or questionable behaviors, and I have not been seen consuming alcoholic beverages.

The individual identified as Ousainu Darboe has been a significant obstacle preventing me from doing the hajj pilgrimage in the year 2016. I declined the opportunity to go to Mecca in order to remain and advocate for his liberation from incarceration, since I saw myself as a suitable contender for this endeavor as per divine intervention. I engaged in a conflict with the one responsible for his imprisonment, nevertheless, the lack of appreciation shown is really repugnant. I overheard him assert that the UDP is subsisting from their own labor, while we benefit from the efforts of their constituents who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I expressed the need of attentively considering the statements made by an individual who exhibits hypocritical behavior. This individual was apprehended and immobilized in a fixed location, awaiting their designated period. I undertook the act of rescuing him and thereafter bestowed upon him the position of vice president. Please provide an explanation on the parties involved in the debt and the corresponding obligations. This evokes a profound sense of sorrow.

According to his statement, the NPP is actively engaged in the process of strengthening its presence across the nation.

The NPP is not here with the intention of engaging in recreational activities. We are prepared for any situation. The individual expressed a strong commitment to sacrifice their life for the nation, asserting that victory would be achieved via diligent efforts.

In opposition to the prevailing viewpoint or argument, a counter perspective or position is presented. This

Ebrima Dibba, the UDP deputy national organizing secretary, spoke in support of Ousainu Darboe and said that President Barrow made a mistake in his speech.

First and foremost, the assertion that his inability to do the hajj pilgrimage in 2016 was due to his responsibility for managing the funds of the United Democratic Party (UDP) is very incongruous, since the UDP has never had a substantial sum of money at any one point. Mr. Dibba asserted his knowledge of the matter, citing his involvement in the coordination of funds sent to the individual in question from members located in the United States.

In response to Barrow’s assertion that he liberated Darboe and his companions from imprisonment, where they were purportedly awaiting their demise under Jammeh’s regime, Dibba contends that Barrow fails to acknowledge that Darboe and the other political detainees were actually released shortly after Jammeh conceded defeat, prior to his subsequent reversal and, evidently, prior to Barrow assuming office.

Moreover, it was the collective efforts of the Gambian populace that facilitated this transformative shift, rather than any external influence. The endeavors undertaken by you have not been significant in facilitating your current position. Dibba reminded President Barrow that it was the UDP, namely Aji Yam Secka, who strongly influenced his current position and almost compelled him to seek candidacy inside the party.
