The Gambia Police Force (GPF) said on Tuesday that suspects in Thursday’s attempted robbery in Fajara have been charged with a number of offences. According to the police, the accused culprits will shortly be hauled before a court.

The suspects are accused with robbery with violence, going armed in public, conspiracy to do felony under the criminal code, and possessing a handgun without authority under the arms and ammunition legislation, according to police.

According to police, investigators are still gathering data about the gunshot, which occurred in a residential part of the municipality.

The suspects were later apprehended after storming into a residence with the intention of robbing a man but failing, resulting in the suspects firing bullets into the air, causing panic among inhabitants and allowing them to flee.

Law enforcement officials also released new information from their investigation into Thursday’s incident. The authorities identified the accused as Seedy Gaye and Griel Davide.

“We have charged them with various counts, and the matter will soon be taken to the prosecution office so that their case can be heard in court,” said Pateh Bah, deputy commissioner of police and regional crime officer for Kanifing Municipality, during a briefing at Kairaba police station.

The attempted robbery occurred on Thursday, February 15th, 2023, at approximately 10 a.m.
