MC Cham Jr, the Campaign Manager of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), posited that if there should be a commission of inquiry, it should start with the office of the President rather than the local councils.

“I saw president Adama Barrow swore in NPP commissioners to look into the local government administrations. Some of them are veteran politicians. Some are part of the NPP executive in Banjul. They are not ready to fight corruption but they are there for their personal interest and the interest of the government. The Audit report has revealed a lot of corruption in the government but they didn’t talk about that.

“So if there should a commission, the commission should start with the office of the president and come down. The president use to say ‘no one can come to the presidency through the back door’ but we have seen today they want to take the Councils through the back door. Because most of the commissioners they appointed to this commission are NPP supporters. Do you think there will be transparency? NPP doesn’t have candidates that can win elections that’s why they want to distract,” he said

MC Cham Jr is the National Campaign Manager of the opposition Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC).
