Gorgi Sowe, a husband, appeared before Justice E. Jaiteh of the High Court on charges of using a cutlass to attack his wife and cause serious injuries.
State Counsel F. Drammeh told the court yesterday when the issue was brought up that they were awaiting the police’s submission of the accused person’s dossier.
“The police have not yet sent the material to the Attorney General’s Chamber. The inquiry doesn’t seem to be finished yet. We want that the matter be postponed,” she said.
Gorgi Sowe was accused of breaking section 212(b) of the penal code by intending to cause serious bodily injury.
The specific offense states that Gorgie Sowe committed an offense on or around November 15, 2023, in Jalanbang village, Kombo Central, West Coast Region, with the intent to malice, disfigure, and unlawfully assault Amie Sowe by using a cutlass on her hands and legs, causing her serious bodily harm.
As soon as the Anti-Crime Unit came on the scene, it was possible to apprehend Gorgi Sowe who was trying to escape. The victim, the man’s wife, was found laying in a serious state with many major lacerations to both legs when the crew arrived.
The cutlass, which was said to be the weapon, was discovered on the suspect during the arrest process, along with his clothes and bed.
The sufferer was sent to Brikama Hospital right away and given emergency care. She was then moved to Ndemban Clinic, where she is still being kept for more care and medical attention.
The matter was postponed until December 12, 2023.
