The Gambia’s Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) has reported the arrest of two persons for allegedly possessing cocaine and guns.

“Our field agents stationed in the Tourism Development Area, along with Special Operation Squad operatives, conducted a sting operation that resulted in the seizure of fifty-two (52) blocks of suspected cocaine from one Bocar Hamet Sall at a warehouse in Jimpex.” The event occurred on Tuesday, September 29, 2023.

“The suspect, who was on the agency’s radar, was grabbed while offloading two (2) cartoons containing the said 52 blocks of suspected cocaine.” “Operators also seized two (2) detachable Benz trucks and a Dodge vehicle with the license plate BJL 5985 X,” DLEAG added.

Prior to the seizure of these 52 blocks of cocaine, the agency’s operatives stationed in the West Coast Region seized one hundred and four (104) blocks of cocaine from two (2) Bissau Guinean Nationals on July 14, 2023. “50-year-old Adulai Seidi, who was the principal suspect in that matter, was found with sixty-three (63) blocks of cocaine found in his car at the Brusubi Police checkpoint.” The car is a Toyota RAV 4 with the license plate KM 5352 E.

“Another thirty-five (35) blocks of cocaine and a cash amount of four thousand (4000) Euros, as well as two thousand nine hundred and fifty dalasis (D 2950.00), were seized during a search of his residence at Paradise Estate in old Yundum,” they said.
Ndey Jatta, 37, was allegedly ‘clutched’ with six (6) bricks of cocaine at a house in Sanchaba Sulay Jobe.

“They were both arraigned in court and found guilty of drug dealing and trafficking charges.” The court punished them twelve million dalasis (D 12,000,000.00), and the cash discovered with Seidi and his car was confiscated to the State,” they claimed.

In a related but unrelated occurrence, DLEAG reported its agents stationed at the Amdalai border crossing apprehended a Senegalese citizen on Monday, 9 October 2024, with twenty (20) ecstasy tablets, a handgun, and four (4) live bullets.
“DLEAG’s North Bank Regional Command apprehended a female Bissau Guinean National with fourteen (14) large bundles of suspected cannabis sativa.” “The incident occurred on October 12, 2024, around 07:30 a.m. GMT,” they claimed.
