Saihou Mballow, Special adviser to President Adama Barrow on political affairs has accused the UDP leadership of failing the Gambian people by not recognizing the efforts of President Barrow at the State Funeral of the late Solo Sandeng.

“I am very disappointed that the UDP leadership has failed Gambians. They should have mentioned president Adama Barrow and his leadership at the state funeral of Solo but they did not. There was no one there who thanked the president for doing what was right and no one talking about that. Adama Barrow has always maintained the respect that Ousainou Darboe deserved. All of us respect him (Darboe) but he should also respect Adama Barrow as the leader of the Gambia,” he told King Fm radio on Tuesday.

When asked about the reason President Adama Barrow didn’t attend the State Funeral of the late Solo Sandeng, Mr. Mballow said those who attended the funeral were there on behalf of the president;

“Those who attended the Funeral were there on behalf and direction of the president. Those who are blaming the president, I think they don’t know how things work or they just want to blame the president. If the president said Solo Sandeng should have a state funeral, what we should first say is to commend him but if you listen to the statements, no one thanked the president for what he has done including Ousainou Darboe.

“I was surprised to hear Ousainou Darboe saying, ‘Solo Sandeng if you go tell Shyngle Nyassi, Lang Marong we are here’ but for him to tell the Gambian people to appreciate Adama Barrow for giving Solo a state funeral, to recognize the role that Solo play in our Democratization process. President Adama Barrow said we should all come and pay our last respect to Solo Sandeng. Ousainou Darboe Should have appreciated that and he should have mentioned it in his statement but he did not.” he concluded

President Barrow’s special advisor made these remarks in an interview with King FM radio on Tuesday morning.
