Senegal will thus become part of a small group of African countries that operate a satellite in space: the others are Ethiopia, Angola, Kenya, Ghana, Algeria, Nigeria, Rwanda, Egypt, Morocco and Sudan

Senegal will launch its first satellite into space in the next few days. This is what the “Apa” news agency reports today, specifying that the launch date has not yet been announced. Senegal will thus join a small group of African countries that operate a satellite in space: the others are Ethiopia, Angola, Kenya, Ghana, Algeria, Nigeria, Rwanda, Egypt, Morocco and Sudan.

Designed and built by Senegalese engineers and technicians working on the Sensat Senegal project, in collaboration with the Space Center of the University of Montpellier (Csum) in France, Gaindesat1A’s mission is to “collect and transmit environmental data”. The launch date will be announced in the next few days.
