The former Pastef party, represented by its figures Ousmane Sonko and Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has adopted a unique strategy with a view to the next presidential elections in Senegal. Sources close to the movement reveal that the two men submitted their candidacy files to the Constitutional Council, thus joining a restricted group of 28, this crucial step. This approach seems to be a maneuver aimed at maximizing the chances of the dissolved party’s presence in the electoral race, hoping that at least one of the two candidacies will be validated.

Particularly notable is the case of Ousmane Sonko, facing significant administrative challenges. Incarcerated, Sonko faces obstacles in collecting sponsorships and posting the required bail, mainly due to controversies surrounding his eligibility linked to his status on the electoral roll. Despite the re-registration orders issued by the courts of Ziguinchor and Dakar, the authorities remain inflexible.

To date, no official communication has been made by the political party regarding these deposits.
